THREE
SPECIES

We have the enormous privilege of working with three distinct species of Indonesian wood: Mahogany, Tamarind and Rosewood. Each boast their own distinct flavors and personalities. All have been kiln-dried and harvested over 25 years ago and brought to the United States by my family.

INDONESIAN MAHOGANY

Toona sureni

The world of mahogany is complex. And Indonesian Mahogany just outside of the Honduran “Genuine Mahogany” category. It’s often compared to Australian Red Cedar (Toona Ciliata), a bit more reddish in color. It’s a medium to large species with a stunning grain texture. Long, straight grains can be easily found within the stock, as well as mesmerizing swirls and knots, lending itself to beautiful table tops and other focal uses.

Often used for furniture, outdoor uses and traditional medicine.

4/4, 8/4, 12/4 and 16/4 slabs available and range from 24-48” wide and 36-160” long. Prices based on grain quality and BF.

SPALTED
TAMARIND

Tamarindus indica

Tamarind wood may have been the first wood that I was truly drawn to. As a kid, I was mesmerized by the spalted mysteries and as an adult, I appreciated the wildness and earthiness qualities it adds to a space.

The slabs we have are larger, approximately 2-3” thick and about 3-4’ wide and 5-6’ long.

Sizes lend themselves to furniture, but turning them would be a treat as well.

INDIAN
ROSEWOOD

Dalbergia oliveri

The third species is perhaps the most stoic. I do not agree with the harvest practices, and I have wrestled with what it means to have access to something precious and now extremely - and rightfully - protected.

I will find peace in knowing that history can not be altered, and what is is what is. I will find joy in knowing that these pieces contribute to a beautiful project.
